Textiles and Patterns
Nightmare Dreamscape
This was a set piece I created through screen printing. I wanted a pattern that reflected the music genre "shoe gaze", so very noisy and distorted. The motifs I used in these pieces were a self image that I manipulated to make it appear slightly wrong and not 100% human. A picture of a telephone pole in my backyard, and a picture of paint that I splattered on my notebook page to create background motion and texture. For the one titled Nightmare, I used maroon, pistachio, and black ink and for Dreamscape, I used charcoal grey, lavender, and periwinkle ink. These are the colors I imagine when I hear either word.
Sleepy time repeating pattern
This is a repeating pattern illustration I made for a children's bedtime print. It's a character I created of a man called Mr. Lane who didn't want to go to work one rainy monday and a gust of wind blew him up and up into the sky.
